This tap simulation demonstrates the capability to model extremely fine details required in machining processes.  A robust FEM engine with efficient contact and mesh generation is required to resolve the chip shape.  As the number of elements increase, the problem size challenges even the most advanced computer hardware.  DEFORM-3D is up to the challenge.
