DEFORM News Spring 2005: Heat transfer has been included in DEFORM, since its’ inception in the late 1980’s. Conduction, convection and radiation have a significant influence on material flow, microstructure, process times and product quality. In times of rapidly rising energy costs, heating times are being examined closely by leading companies. A review of heat transfer fundamentals and the influence of view factors is presented.
